"The sand is like sugar," said Leatherman, director of FIU's Laboratory for Coastal Research. "Some people can't believe it. You have to bring sunglasses because it's so bright. It's super soft, super fine. They claim to have the finest, whitest sand in the world, and I can't argue with that." This quartz crystal sand stays cool to the touch, even on the hottest days.

More Information About Turtle Rock (Palmer Ranch)

Turtle Rock is a gated family neighborhood on the south side of Palmer Ranch. The community has sidewalks, medium size lots that are lushly landscaped, some with lake and preserve views. Turtle Rock has a  community center, pool, tennis courts, basketball court, and nature trail. A five minute drive takes you to Trader Joe's, Publix, Target, Lowes, Sarasota Square Mall, movie theaters, a newer YMCA,  I-75 and many restaurants. The public beach on Siesta Key is a 10 -15 minute drive. The Post Office and a public library are about 5 - 10 minutes away.
