New Generation BMW X1

German company BMW introduced the new generation of the compact crossover X1. The public debut of the model will take place during the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens in mid-September 2015 The new car will go on sale in Europe in October this year. The price of the car will be announced later.

The new crossover has a large grille and new front bumper with chrome spoiler and modified LED lights. Moreover, the crossover features modified rear lights and other armor.

The new small SUV, the BMW is the first crossovers to drive the front wheels. The main change in the second generation of the new platform X1e UKL1, the same on which they are built Mini Cooper and BMW Series 2 Active Tourer, which is why the base model will be front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be optional.

Longitudinal engine was replaced with a more compact and handy unit. This leads to a change in the silhouette of the crossover. The car has received a shorter hood and sloping roofline. This increases the space in the gym. Moreover, in many countries such as Russia, the US and China car will be available with a long wheelbase, which will allow placing third row of seats.

The engine range includes two petrol models with engine displacement 2.0 liters. Their power is respectively 192 and 231 horsepower. Moreover available and three diesel engines with the same displacement (150, 190, 231 horsepower). Later will come two basic engine – 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine (136 hp) and a diesel version with the same displacement and output 116 horsepower. Depending on the motor X1 can be equipped with a new generation of six-speed manual gearbox or a new eight-speed transmission Steptronic.

The car will be available for purchase in five versions: base, Advantage, Sport Line, XLine and M Sport. The latter includes aerodynamic body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels and sports seats upholstered in Alcantara.

Crossover is equipped with air conditioning, updated infotainment system iDrive, large touchscreen and a new audio system with 12 speakers. Furthermore, the driver has the technology BMW ConnectedDrive, which designs all the necessary information on the windshield of the model. In addition, the new generation of X1 will get a package of security Driving Assistant Plus. It includes active cruise control function with Stop & Go, a system to monitor lane, a support system for driving in a traffic jam Traffic Jam Assistant, as well as a warning system for stroke and a pedestrian collision with automatic braking in urban environments.
